Salons? Just what are "salons?"
MPS members compete in monthly photo competitions (the salon) which occur during the first club meeting of the month. Each salon has four classes: Monochrome Open, Monochrome Topic, Color Open and Color Topic. Prints are judged by an outside expert who evaluates them on composition, technical merit, impact and for topic entries, relevence to the topic. All images shown on our website have been awarded Honorable Mention or higher in one of our salons.
You must pay MPS dues for the club year to enter salons.
Points earned at the monthly competitions are accumulated toward end-of-year awards: the "Century Club" and "Photographer of the Year".
Salon rules cover the size and number of prints that may be entered, the points awarded, and other useful information.
Salon topic definitions for the current year can be found here.
